4couture.com & friends
get ‘all fired up’

09.02.2007
In celebration of another 21st birthday the 4couture.com
ladies along with some friends, decided to try out Bournemouth’s
new ceramics café – ‘All Fired Up’.

The idea is a simple one - sit down with a cup of coffee and
perhaps a panini and paint your own ceramics masterpiece - or for the
more alcoholic amongst you (like us!) then take along a few bottles
of wine and the All Fired Up guys will provide the glasses, open the
bottles of vino (whilst keeping the others chilling) and they don’t
charge you a penny for corkage.

"the fact my one year old son
actually recognised Dipsy was a great endorsement!"

Now, given that I’d decided on mugs (take my advice, curved
edges are really not as easy to decorate as they look), I’d taken
the designs it was my mission to re-create from my handbag (a Teletubby
and a Star Wars character) and began painting my masterpieces.

At the outset
I thought ‘Top Pottery’ might get wind of my outstanding
skills and try and entice me with an amazing job offer. However the
reality was ‘how can I palm my efforts off as a child’s
convincingly?’ Hard when a) you’re part of an all female
party clearly out on the town, and b) it’s 10pm at night and there
aren’t any small children in the vicinity to borrow for a small
fee!

OK, so my creative skills aren’t the best, but the following
morning the children were impressed with my creations and the fact my
one year old son actually recognised Dipsy was a great endorsement!
(and his new mug bought me a few more minutes in bed, with the hangover).

It really was a fantastic night out and a brilliant way to celebrate
being another year younger - being able to bring your own bottle was
great - as was the food . I’d thoroughly recommend the ceramics
café to families and people of all ages, though if you take my
advice leave the children at home – let’s face it you don’t
want them to put your artistic abilities to shame!!
